Early PreK2 Classroom Teachers
Hannah Esmay - Lead Teacher
Hannah joined our Early Learning Center team in 2024 after graduating from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She is also currently enrolled in a program that trains teachers to become early childhood directors through firsthand experiences and classes in administration.
She looks forward to being able to share Jesus each day with the children and families in her classroom and exploring the world that He has made for us through meaningful interactions and experiences.
In her free time, Hannah enjoys being outside, spending time with her family and friends, and reading a great book.
Katya Howell - Assistant Teacher
Katya has been with Refuge for over 5 years now. She has her associate degree in Early Childhood Education from Wake Technical Community College.
Katya’s favorite thing about teaching at the early learning center is having the opportunity to see the joy on the children’s faces when they learn something new about themselves and the God who loves them dearly.
She cherishes being able to share God’s love with each student and each parent that walks through our doors.
Jayden Singleton - Assistant Teacher
While attending Wake Technical Community College in 2018 to achieve her associate degree in Birth-Kindergarten licensure, Jayden was a student teacher at Refuge. In 2022, she joined the Refuge ELC as a full-time assistant teacher.
Jayden loves teaching because she gets to witness the growth of the children as they develop confidence in their new skill sets throughout the year.
When she’s not teaching, Jayden loves to listen to music and dance. She also enjoys learning new languages and reading a good book.
